Fischer, Meir-Yosef (Max)

Meir-Yosef, son of Binyamin and Rosa Fischer, was born in 1924 in Chemnitz, Germany. With Hitler’s rise to power, the family fled to England and a few years later emigrated to Argentina. In 1950, he immigrated to Israel with his wife and parents and went to Tel Adashim, where he diligently and devotedly established a Yaffa and flourishing farm. Despite his opposition to the war, he recognized his duty as a civilian and when he was called up for reserve duty he volunteered for a paramedics course. He fell in Sinai during the Battle of Dahab on 29 Cheshvan (3.11.1956), leaving a wife and two daughters. He was buried in the military cemetery in Eilat and on January 29, 1958, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
