Finkelstein, Mordechai


Son of Aryeh. Born in 1876 in Piotrkow, Poland, he was a religiously observant Zionist and active in immigration to Eretz Israel, and took part in the Russo-Japanese War in 1904. His carpentry profession was not enough to fill his needs, On Passover Eve of 1921, he arrived in Eretz Israel and stayed at the Beit Ha’olim in Jaffa on the day of the 23rd of Nisan, 5721 (May 1, 1921), where bloody riots broke out in Jaffa and the immigrants’ home was the first goal of the Arab rioters The pioneers, who lived there, barricaded themselves inside the house and managed to repel two attacks, but in the third attack, Arab rioters were accompanied by rioters S guns, and the crowd broke into the house and killed twelve of its inhabitants.
