Son of Avraham and Roza. Born on December 6, 1932 in Tel Aviv, his parents, veteran Zionists and loyalists of the Labor movement, educated the child in their spirit, first he was educated in the school for the workers’ children, and later moved to the Carmel School in Tel Aviv From 1946 until the beginning of the War of Independence, he was educated at the educational institution at Kibbutz Mizra, where he completed ten years of study, and after the establishment of the State of Israel, at the height of the War of Independence, the kibbutz sent the foreign children to their homes and continued his studies at the Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium, He returned to work as a draftsman (until he enlisted in the IDF as part of the Nahal Brigade), received training at Kibbutz Evron and later became a member of the Sasa farm. Agricultural school. During his time in Sasa he struck roots in the place and his activity was varied and rich. After completing compulsory service in the army, he decided to stay in the kibbutz, but after a short period of time returned to the city, wanting to continue his studies and even help his father as the work center in his office. Even when he returned to the city he did not cease his activities among his friends who left the kibbutz or other kibbutzim and founded the “Lehavot” culture circle (now called “Lehavot Shahar”). A lively and awake lad, strong and energetic, who could infuse his good and merry spirits with all his friends. With a gentle soul, loves music, poetry and art. In December 1955, he passed the Australian matriculation exams with the intention of entering the medical school at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In August 1956 he went on reserve duty, took a course in communications and was assigned to the Armored Corps, but until now he has been called back to the Sinai. On the eve of his departure for the operation, from which he did not return, he said to his friends: “They called me, a sign that they need me” – for he was always ready for every role and function; And as he parted from his mother, he said, “That’s it, Mommy, that’s the end, do not cry, wait for me!” He fell in the Battle of Abu-Agila in the Sinai Campaign on the 27th of Mershvan 5711 (1/11/1956). He was buried in the Military Cemetery of the Emergency Army in Shelah and on the 12th of Mershvan 5718 (6.11.1957) he was taken to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Son of-Shahar’s parents donated a sum of money to establish a scholarship fund in the name of their son; The scholarships are awarded annually to needy students (through the Shimon Rokach Bnai Brith Chamber) and the fund’s profits increase the amount of scholarships.
