Fine, Amos


Son of Yitzhak and Linaka. He was born on December 23, 1928, in the city of Galatz, Romania, and immigrated to Israel in 1943. He graduated from the agricultural school in Einot, where he was an agricultural instructor in Yad Rambam (Moshav- Workers of “Hapoel Hamizrachi” near Ramla). His hobby was collecting stamps, but as a naturalist he tended especially to stamps depicting flowers and animals. He was a member of the Haganah and the Palmach and in June 1948 he was drafted into the IDF and participated in the War of Independence. After that he would go to reserve duty and in the Sinai system called to reserve duty. On the 25th of Mershvan, 5710 (October 30, 1956) he fell in battle. He was buried in the Military Cemetery of the Emergency Forces in Shelah and on the 28th of Tishrei 5718 (October 23, 1957) he was transferred to the eternal military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Rasko planted a grove in his name in Yad Rambam.
