Feldman, Jacob

Son of Efraim. He was born in 1894 in Russia, where he received a traditional education filled with Ahavat Yisrael and Ahavat Eretz Israel, and when he came to Israel he was sent to work in Malhamia (Menahemia) and later worked as a guard in Yavne’el. He was a courageous, dedicated and loyal young man who once ran into Arabs who wanted to steal his weapon from him and fought with them and came out with the upper hand despite being beaten to the point of blood. With his talent for playing guitar, he used to play his strings for the pleasure of his friends, and Yaakov was loved by his friends and acquaintances for his honesty and good temper. The morning of the ninth day of Kislev (07/12/1913) Jacob was watching the streets of Sgara. Arabs from Kfar Lubia who wanted to steal from the shop of the Sgara farm were surprised by Yaakov who heard the noise of the break-in. They shot at him and killed him. He was laid to rest in Sagara. His name is commemorated on the memorial plaque for the fallen soldiers in the synagogue in Sagera, as well as in the book “Chapters in the History of the Yishuv,” “The History of the Haganah,” “Hashomer.”
