Feldman, Eliezer

Son of Yechezkel and Miriam. He was born on the 14th of Adar 1, February 15,1938 in Petach Tikvah. He completed his studies at the “Netzach Israel” religious elementary school. He then went to the Yeshurun religious high school in Petach Tikva. He graduated with high grades and honors, especially in subjects he loved, such as Talmud, history and mathematics. He was accepted, at the age of ten, to the Bnei Akiva movement, when he was a student in the elementary school. At the end of his first year of high school, he was sent to the seminar and was very happy to educate young people and bringing the young generation to pioneering and kibbutz life. He saw this as his life’s purpose. Due to illness, he was confined to bed for several months. When he overcame his illness, he began to devote himself more to the Bnei Akiva branch, as if to fill in the gaps. His visits to Kfar Haroeh made a strong impression on him. Nevertheless, his intensive activities did not detract from his studies, because he was an outstanding student. Modesty and simplicity were added to his other excellent qualities, honoring his father and mother, helping his brother and sister with advice, devotion to friends, etc. His teachers predicted him greatness, but he himself had an ideal of his own. At the age of 16, he joined the kibbutz group. After the matriculation exams, the enlistment date for all members of the nucleus was postponed to half a year, to study at the Bnei Akiva yeshiva in Jerusalem. After, he joined the Nahal paramilitary brigade. In the early days of his training, he was able to overcome the difficulties he faced. With the outbreak of the Sinai Campaign, he went out with his friends, with great enthusiasm, to the front lines. On the 26th of Cheshvan, October 31, 1956, in a battle in Maavar Hamitla, he was wounded. Nevertheless, he rushed to help his wounded friend. He fell in the line of duty on the same day. He was buried in the Military Cemetery of the Emergency Army in Shelah. On the 28th of Tishrei, October 23, 1957, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery, on Mount Herzl, in Jerusalem. The “Yeshurun” Gymnasium issued a pamphlet in memory of Eliezer, one of its dear graduates, whose memory was included in the booklet Kislev-Tevet 5717 of Zera’im (the Bnei Akiva newsletter in Israel). and in the booklet Kislev-Tevet 5717 “Pages” (the religious kibbutz newsletter). In May 1957 a Torah library was opened for him in the Yeshurun gymnasium.
