Feinstein, Shmuel
Son of Masha and Shlomo. He was born in 1919 in Eretz Yisrael, and joined the group of founders of Atarot, a moshav north of Jerusalem that was established in 1914 and abandoned in the War of Independence in 1922. Shmuel studied at the Ben-Shemen agricultural school and was known as a quiet young man, diligent and courageous. He was a member of the Ha – Po’el organization, and in mid – September 1938, Arabs sabotaged a pipe that brought water from Para to Atarot, and one of the members of the moshav repaired the pipe. On the following day, on the 21st of Elul (September 17, 1938), Shmuel went out with a motorcycle to inspect the pipe. Between Jerusalem and Ramallah Arabs shot at them and the motorcycle collided with a bus from Ramallah, and his friend Avraham was killed on the spot and Shmuel was critically wounded. He was buried in Atarot. Left parents and four siblings.
