Feigenbaum, Yitzhak (“Itzi”),


Son of Zalman and Esther-Beila was born on the first day of Kislev, December 3, 1929 in the city of Wolodava in Poland. In 1942 Yitzhak and his brother immigrated from Russia through Persia along with the Teheran immigrants of the “Youth Aliyah”. In Israel Yitzhak began studying in Ponevitz Yeshivah in Jerusalem and at the “Bnei Akiva” Yeshiva, and afterwards he entered the “Mikveh Israel” agricultural school. Yitzhak then joined to the Haganah and was active in it. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, Yitzhak joined the Palmach, was in a reconnaissance company and participated in battles near Holon and Abu Ghosh, and in the Har Tuv battle was wounded in the leg. Yitzhak recovered but a few months later, was wounded again. He was forced to move to the infantry and he guarded positions at Mount Zion. On the 13th of Nisan (12.4.1949) while carrying out his duties in Beit-Nabala, he was seriously injured and died of his wounds in the hospital. Yitzhak was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
