Feiga, Zvi

Son of Dr. Peretz (Fritz) and Rosa, was born on February 2, 1930 in Breslau, Germany. Immigrated to Israel with his parents at the age of three. He attended the elementary school in Yavne’el, where his parents moved when he was 11. He was interested in agriculture and in his free time liked to work in the kindergarten, and at the age of 14 he entered the Tietz vocational school. Who in Yagur studied the carpentry profession. Wherever he was found he would be loved by all his knowledge because of his cheerful spirit, good temper, and stature. From an early age he liked to travel in Israel and missed no opportunity to meet her. In those days he was a participant in Hagana training and graduated from the vocational school in Notar Yavne’el. During the War of Independence, he was sent along with his friends to defend the road near Arab Lubya and was wounded in the leg. Even when he lay in the hospital he would lift the spirit of his roommates. Before the wound was completely healed, he was again in the defense systems and during the attack on Lubia he refused to remain in the settlement until his father, as a doctor, had to confirm to him that he was capable of participating in the battles. When reinforcements were summoned from Yavne’el to Sejera, Zvi proved his courage and fought out of heroism. Afterward, he served as a driver and was among the food and ammunition suppliers of the front lines in the Negev in the very fact that the Egyptians attacked the main arteries of transportation. Together with his courage in the battle, he did not forget the duty of Lev to his parents, and after the fierce battles in the vicinity of Rafiah he drove his car overnight and came home with several friends to calm the parents. He was one of the first to reach the shore of Eilat, but shortly thereafter his brigade was transferred to the Western Galilee. Since then he has visited the house frequently. He wanted to go back to his profession and set up a small carpentry workshop. At the beginning of January 1950, the order for his release from the army (beginning in early February) came, but he did not receive that day, that a few days before his arrival, on the 22nd of Shevat 5710 (22.1.1950), he fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in Beit- The graveyard in the garden.
