Farjun, Shmuel
Born in 1931 on the island of Djerba in Tunisia, he studied in a Torah room and a Hebrew language school. Shmuel helped his father in business and commerce and yet belonged to the “Ateret Zion” pioneering movement that operated on the island of Djerba. He immigrated to Israel on board the illegal immigrant ship “November 29” and was deported by the British from the port of Haifa to Cyprus in 1948. During the War of Independence he was liberated from the Cyprus camp and immigrated to Israel on the “Kedma” A training period was sent to the front with his unit, he fought in the carrot sector and in one of the battles, on the 28th of Iyar 5708 (June 6, 1948) he was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Gezer.
