Farhi, Yosef

Son of-Janet and Yitzhak, was born in 1908 in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. He attended the Sephardic school there and later worked as a driver. In 1939 he immigrated to Israel, worked in various jobs and eventually worked as a driver. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army and served in the Western Desert and Italy. When he was released and returned to Israel, he married Sultana and found him a job in civilian life. During the War of Independence he accepted the call and served in the army as a driver. On his last journey he was to take the convoy to Yehiam, but by order he returned from the middle of the road to the streets where he was hit by an Egyptian air strike and was taken to the hospital. On the first day of Sivan 5708 (June 8, 1948) he died of his wounds and was brought to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
