He studied at the elementary school in Dalit al-Carmel and at the “Ironi Hashem” high school in Haifa. As a youth he was active in the “Scouts” youth movement. He also dealt a great deal in sports, played volleyball and handball and practiced karate and judo. He served in the Israel Defense Forces, Border Police, from 1972 to 1975. After serving in the Israel Prison Service in March 1976, he served in the Damon and Hebron units and in the Ramallah prison for security duties. He served as a prison officer with the rank of lieutenant commander, and he specialized in social deviance and law enforcement, and was sent to academic studies at Beit Berl. Bahjat loved to read, was a man of letters and an art lover. He was blessed with many skills. He was a humble and quiet man who helped a lot of others and always modestly. Many times, his acquaintances said, he would reach out for help at the expense of his own good. He was so devoted to human love. In 1995, when the terror attack in Beit Lid took place, and he was already a member of the IPS who was doing his work in the Hasharon Prison, Bahajat was one of the first to feel the help of the victims, And he brought with him Nahed, Huweida, As’ad, Rakan, and Rayan, and his loved ones remember him as a warm and dedicated man, always smiling, loving and loved. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Isfiya, on Mount Caramel, and left behind a wife and five children, brothers and sisters. , With dozens of medals and certificates of appreciation given to him over the years by the service and the private sector, souvenir pictures and praise.
