Fares, Rabih
Son of Zamorad and Ahmed. Rabih was born in Israel on April 1, 1952. He was born, raised and educated in the village of Beit Jann, a town where most of its sons serve in the security forces of the State of Israel, and many of its sons have fallen in defense of the country. Rabih enlisted on 25.11.1969 for compulsory military service in the IDF. From 1973 served in the Border Police, was one of the best fighters in the Border Police and joined the elite unit of the SWAT. This unit demonstrated impressive operational capabilities and was even appointed as a team commander. Rabih married Thi’a and was the father of three children: Shadi, Hala, Ihsan. He was a loving husband and devoted most of his free time to his family. His house was open to friends and they would gather for poetry evenings, it was his great love and he even appeared before an audience. First Sergeant Rabih fell during his duty in Lebanon, during the first Tsur disaster. On the morning of 11.11.1982, during the Peace for Galilee War, an explosion took place in a building in the city of Tzur, home to the Israeli military government and many IDF forces, and about 100 people were killed, including seventy-six members of the Israeli security forces. He was buried in the cemetery in Beit Jann, leaving a wife, two sons and a daughter.
