Dori (Freddy), son of Sabina and Solomon, was born on 9.6.1949 in Bucharest, Romania. When he was one year old, his family immigrated to Israel and settled in Jaffa. He did his elementary studies at the French school in Jaffa and spent two years studying at Sokolov High School. Due to the family’s difficult financial situation, he decided to abandon his regular studies in order to work and help support the family. He began working at Amcor and in the evening he studied electronics. During his spare time, he spent time with his friends from the Scout movement, played soccer and read books. His name “Freddy” won the French school. Dori was a good son and devoted to his parents and gave them all that he got drunk and sometimes had to force him to save himself some money as pocket money. Dori was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1966. After completing basic training he completed a tank course and fought in the Six Day War as a rifleman on the southern front, and after earning his military service in September 1970, And in July 1973 he married Edna, his girlfriend, and the young couple decided to build his home in a development town and moved to Eilat, where Dori worked as a maintenance man at the hotel. “Dori was a warmhearted man,” says his wife. He worked hard, in order to build a house for us, so that in time he would be able to enjoy the fruit of his labor. In the Yom Kippur War Dori served as a tank driver in the” Machatz “battalion on the southern front. He was brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery and left behind a wife and son named Gilad Dori, who was born a week before his burial, a father, mother, sister and two brothers. His commander wrote: “Dorrie showed courage and coolness during the battle.
