Etiel (Etkin), David
David, ben Sarah, was born on the 10th of Tamuz, June 25th 1931. He was recruited to the IDF in February 1950, volunteered to serve in the first Nahal Brigade, and was one of its founders. After being released from regular service, he returned to his kibbutz married in July 1956. In the course of the reserve service, David was transferred from the Nahal Brigade to the Paratroopers Brigade, where he participated in a platoon training course, a course for company commanders, a course for intelligence officers, and was promoted to captain. In 1971 he began studying at Tel Aviv University in the Department of Middle Eastern History and the Geography of the Land of Israel. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, David joined his parachute unit and participated in battles west of the Suez Canal. On October 20, 1973, his half-track vehicle was hit, David was seriously wounded and a week later, on the 2nd of Heshvon, October 28th, 1973, died of his wounds at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Yotvata. He left behind a wife and four children.
