Eshel, Uriel

Eshel, Uriel

Son of Zvi and Anda, members of Mizra. He was born on January 8, 1933 in Mizra.”In October 1950 he was drafted into the IDF. He served in the air force and reached the rank of lieutenant. On the 25th of Av 5713 (August 6, 1953), he left for a position and did not return. A monument in his memory was erected in the missing section of the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. The farm produced a pamphlet in his memory. At the base of the corps was planted a forest in memory of five pilots – and Uriel among them. The kibbutz placed Gilad in his memory in the local cemetery. A special section dedicated to the memory of Uriel was set up in the library of the “nest” where the guide was dedicated, in memory of all the fallen of the “nest”, where a memorial service is held each year. This fallen hero is a “maklan” – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
