Ervili, Carmel


Carmel, son of Rima and Salim, was born on December 30, 1952, in Ramle. he was drafted into the army he devoted most of his free time to the army. After basic training and after completing a five-turret course, he was appointed to the Patton tank. Although his time was ripe for freedom, he decided to volunteer for a career service for half a year. During his army service, he tried not to worry about his parents and during his vacations he used to spend time at his parents’ home and at his married brothers’ and sisters’ house. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Carmel was with his unit in Sinai. He took part in the harsh fighting and light on the 10th of Tishrei 5734 (October 11, 1973), was killed in an exchange of fire with Egyptian commando soldiers in a night car park near the Suez Canal. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Ramle. He was survived by a father, mother, five brothers and four sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
