He was born in Vienna, Austria, on April 7, 1912. Due to his family’s financial difficulties, he was forced to leave high school and go to work, joining the labor movement in the city and adopting its ideas and goals. In 1935 he immigrated to Israel and settled in Kibbutz Givat Hashlosha. On October 8, 1944, Israel died and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery of Kibbutz Dorot.
