Epstein, Yehuda-Zindel


Yehuda-Zindel (Zuni), son of Perl-Feige and Joseph, was born on 18.12.1947 in Paris, France and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1949 In Israel. Yehuda was drafted into the IDF in February 1968 and assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training, he was assigned to an armored unit in the north as tank commander. Zuni was known in his unit as a responsible and dedicated soldier. During his service in the army, many of his commanders and comrades in the army acquired him, who liked him and respected him for his honesty and kindness and for the dedication and industriousness that characterized him in every mission he carried out. During his service in the army, Zuni often visited the house in order to be with his parents but did not mention the roles he had played in the army. Thus his family heard about a battle against the Syrians, which was run by his unit, only after he came home on leave. In February 1971, Zuni completed his compulsory service in the Israel Defense Forces, where he was awarded a special appreciation certificate, in recognition of the positions he filled during his army service, and was soon accepted to work as an engineer in the Defense Ministry. On Yom Kippur he was called to report to his unit, and together with his comrades in the unit, he was sent to the Golan Heights, where he fought in Syria for four days in the difficult battles of fighting. was laid to rest In the Nahariya cemetery in Holon Survived by father and sister.
