Epstein, Yehoshua

Son of Fruma and Tuvia was born on 29.6.1927 in Haifa and grew up in Kfar Ata. He graduated from the local elementary school and went to work at the Ata factory. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement, first as a trainee and later as a counselor. He was a member of the Haganah, He participated in escorting convoys in the Upper Galilee, attacking the customs house in Syria over Mishmar Hayarden, and fighting in the Nabi Yosha road. He was one of the defenders of Safed during the siege and was one of the conquerors of the Arab city and the police building. He refused to remain behind when his friends went to work and joined them after the commander, upon their departure from the base, on May 31, 1948, in a battle for the Banias, who was seriously wounded. he told the medics hell take care of himself and they should take care of the other wounded. he bandaged Himself with an untrained hand, lost much blood and died, Joshua was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Safed.
