Epstein, Uri

Son of Ephraim and Naomi. He was born on 9 August 1949 in Kibbutz Degania B. He began his education at the Degania Joint Education Center and later studied at Beit Yerah in the Jordan Valley, and since his early childhood he has extended a helping hand to all those who demand it. And his friends who are much older than him – to extend their day of work from the sun until the late hours of the evening, and chose not to identify with knights and fighters, He preferred to follow this difficult path, and on the first Sabbath, when he returned from the army, he sat down and told him that while he was having difficulty, he was told that he would be able to continue. Indeed, his will overcame the difficulties. The days then were days of war, test and suffering, and his roles in the army were difficult. The good nature of his childhood became serious, but the smile would sometimes shine on his face. After the disasters and the bloody battles, the silence would seal his mouth and his soul felt as if it were struggling with the forces above it. The process of growing up was rapid in the last years of his life. He did not conceal the difficult conditions and the hard work in training, but found great satisfaction in them. With his unit he set out for the reprisal operation known as Operation Karameh – and the next day he entered the dining hall as usual, radiating light from everyone, and in a voice of restraint he told about the battle. In his Lev, he decided that after his military service he would return to the kibbutz, but on the 27th of Elul 5728 (August 27, 1968) he died on his way to the Kuneitra road – the Bnot Yaakov Bridge, when his car overturned and he was still in his compulsory service. In the cemetery in Degania Bet.
