Engelman, Eldad


Eldad ben Max and Devorah was born on the 27th of Nissan, June 6, 1956 in Kibbutz Nachshonim. Prior to his enlistment in the IDF, Eldad was educated in the center of pre-military vocational training, and completed his studies successfully. Eldad was drafted into the IDF in October 1973 and volunteered for the Ordnance Corps. After basic training and after completing an electrician-vehicle course, he was sent to a unit in the south of Israel as an electrician. Eldad was a responsible and dedicated soldier, and despite his distance from home, he kept in close contact with his family. On the 22nd of Nissan, April 22, 1976, Eldad died during his service. He was laid to rest in the cemetery on Kibbutz Nachshonim. Survived by his parents, brother and sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Sergeant Eldad was known among his friends as an interested young man, a man of spirit, courteous and controlling his emotions.”
