Elmazor, Dr. Alexander Moshe


Son of Chavla and David Schlesinger. He was born on January 21, 1914 in Moscow, Russia. In 1935, after his doctorate, he immigrated to Eretz Israel and worked in his profession in Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. From 1936 he was a member of the Haganah. At the time of the riots, he volunteered on every vacation, guarding the towns. After the outbreak of World War II, he volunteered for the British Army and joined the medical corps. On April 26, 1941, he was among the co-leader of a military ship during the British evacuation from Manapalion, Greece. His ship was hit and all drowned. He left a wife and a daughter. This fallen hero is a “maklan” – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
