Eliyahu, Yechezkel (“Hezi”)


He was born on December 4, 1947 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. He was three and a half when he immigrated to Israel with his parents. He completed his studies at the Tachkemoni elementary school and spent two years studying at an Arab high school. He was a civil servant clerk (“Yahav”). He was drafted into the IDF in February 1966, and before his service was terminated, he fell to duty in the Gaza Strip as a result of a mine explosion while on duty on 19 September 1967. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
