Elijah, Nadam


Son of Shimon and Rina. He was born on August 1, 1953 in Akko and studied at the “Second Aliya” elementary school and in the municipal high school in Acre, where he loved and excelled in studies and was a playful and smiling pupil and a talented organizer who took care of all the walks and performances in the class. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement and was one of the pillars of the Akko branch, and was sent to various seminars on the promotion of the working youth, playing basketball and taking part in various sports competitions, To many summer camps. To continue his studies he went to a vocational high school in Kiryat Haim and studied there for two years. Afterward, he was accepted to work at the “Naaman” School, was well absorbed in the work and was promised that after his discharge from the regular service, he would be sent to study abroad. Eli, as many called him, was a gentle, good-natured, shy boy. Prior to joining the IDF he completed a pre-military driving course, and Eli joined the IDF in mid-August 1971 and was assigned to the Armored Corps. Where he was trained in driving and even passed a course for half-track drivers, he was very attached to his family and friends and when he came home for vacation, his house was filled with friends, and his unit was loved and accepted by everyone. Was actually a member of his battalion commander who referred to him as “a family member in every respect.” On 17 September 1973, Corporal Eliyahu fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery Nahariya. A Torah scroll in his memory and in his name was placed in the “Shivat Zion” synagogue in Acre.
