Eliezer, Yoram

Son of Piroza and Rafael. He was born on the 27th of Kislev 5727 (27.11.1963) in Ashkelon. Yoram studied at Maimon Elementary School in his hometown, and continued his studies at the Technological Technological Institute in Shfir. The concern for others was the quality of his outstanding character – both in elementary and high school. While giving a personal example – in various volunteer activities – in practice implemented his belief: that one can not think only of himself and must be attentive to the needs of others. In July 1981, Yoram enlisted in the Paratroopers Brigade, for he felt he was carrying out a national mission in favor of the country he loved so much. In this service, the leader’s qualities stood out in him, and he was likely to attend an officer’s course. At the end of the course, when he was commanding his soldiers, he again showed how important he was to the welfare of every detail: his concern for his subordinates was a good thing. His commanders asked him to continue in the career army, and from that sense of mission to the state and society he did agree. He continued with the paratroopers, was promoted to the rank of captain and served as company commander. In this position, too, he was careful to teach his soldiers the love of the homeland and the people. He therefore acted not only as a commander, teaching his soldiers to war, but also as an educator. He also maintained close contact with the Midrasha he attended, often visited and encouraged her students to do the same and to volunteer for the paratroopers. His commanders predicted to the officer promising a bright future – but this did not happen. On the 17th of Adar 5737 (18.3.1987) he fell during his service. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Ashkelon. His parents, two brothers – Amnon and Uri and two sisters – Yehudit and Tikva. Soldiers of the paratroopers unit in which he served and commanders issued a memorial booklet in his memory, including his life history, and especially his appreciation, admiration and love for their commander – a friend.
