Eliezer, Ron (Roni)


Son of Leah and Yehuda, he was born on September 30, 1962 in Ramat Gan, where he studied at the Tel Ganim elementary school and continued his high school studies at the ORT school in Ramat Gan. Roni was a child full of joy He had many friends and participated in all sorts of social activities, such as a class for camping at Beit Emmanuel, sports and hiking in Israel, and at the beginning of 1981 Roni joined the IDF and was stationed in the Artillery Corps. After a first training period, he was sent to a regiment in the north of the country, quickly integrated into the battery and gained their loyalty. Roni was sent to a commanders’ course and returned to the battalion as commander. The seriousness and responsibility of the new role were evident in his face and behavior. He took care of every soldier among his subordinates, and even after being wounded and suffering from severe pain, he inquired about his friend’s condition. Roni was wounded in a heavy shelling at the positions of our forces in the outskirts of Beirut. For five days the doctors tried to save his life, but on the 24th of Tammuz 5742 (15.7.1982) he died and was put to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind his parents and two brothers.
