Eliash, Yishai

Eliash, Yishai

Ben Yael and Zakai. He was born on July 7, 1969 in Kibbutz Malkia, where he grew up. Yishai attended elementary school in his kibbutz, and then continued at the Har Vagai high school on Kibbutz Dafna. He was a good student, loved and loved by all his teachers and acquaintances. Yishai was a sports fan and especially a swimmer whom he spent many hours. Every day, at dawn before the start of his studies and in the afternoons, he practiced swimming. Yishai participated in many competitions and achieved great achievements in swimming 100 meters and 200 meters breast, but as usual, did not talk much about it and did not boast about these achievements. After graduating from high school, Yishai went on a third year of training in the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement in the Haifa branch. In this occupation, too, he has invested all his resources. His friends and children there admired him, and the correspondence and meetings between them continued even when he served in the army. Yishai’s field of interest was very broad, and he showed a great deal of attention to the people, the phenomena and everything around him. He cared about everything, and he would rebel at any discovery of injustice. At the same time he was introverted, did not speak much about himself and his feelings, and many things about himself and his thoughts were known only by his many friends after his death. At the end of the third year, in November 1988, Yishai was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the Golani Brigade, and Yishai aspired to be accepted to the commando unit to “know the country with his legs,” but he did not exempt himself from any training or assignment in the brigade He completed his basic training as an outstanding “trainee” of his platoon, and on January 13, 1991, Yishai fell in the line of duty: Malkia left his parents, brother Ehud and sister Teresa, and Yishai’s friends in his unit, “Raven” in the Golani Brigade, published a pamphlet in his memory.
