Eliahu, Shmuel (Sammy)

The son of Yehezkel and Esther. He was born on December 23, 1942, in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. Immigrated to Israel in 1950. He completed his studies in a vocational school (named after Aryeh Shenkar) and later studied at the ORT school in Ramat Gan and completed his studies there. He worked in textile machines where he specialized in ORT. In addition to his favorite occupation of collecting stamps, he had a sporting spirit, and he devoted much of his time and energy to excellence. He liked to travel the country to the length and the width, and in this way he knew it well. His hobby was to build model airplanes (which are in the service of the IDF) and joined the Israel Air Force when he was drafted into the IDF in July 1961, because this force was his childhood dream and he wanted to build his home. After completing his regular service, he remained in the permanent army and was a second lieutenant. He would elevate the mood of the soldiers with his sense of humor. He fell during his duty on 18 April 1964 and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. In the Ort school, a library was established in his name and in the name of other fallen soldiers.
