Eli, Joseph
Son of Kaduri and Regina. He was born in 1937, in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. After graduating from elementary school, he immigrated to Israel, as part of the Youth Aliyah, through Peres, in 1950. He joined the Youth Aliyah in Kibbutz Hatzor, in the south of the country, and was educated there. He was drafted into the IDF in April 1956. After completing his army service, he underwent a course for military policemen. After his discharge from the army, he successfully completed a carpentry course in the framework of the Ministry of Labor, which was his main source of income. He was called from time to time for reserve service, and despite his personal problems, he filled out the calls for service whenever necessary. He fell in the line of duty, on the 13th of Adar, March 3, 1969, leaving a small child. He was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul Military Cemetery. His last commander wrote that he was a disciplined soldier, who did his best, was acceptable to his friends and loved ones, and spared no effort to help others.
