Elharar, Eli Ezer (Eliahu)
Son of Dina and Tari. Eli Ezer was born in France on the 7th of Cheshvan 5743 (7.11.1982). A second child to his parents, brother of Mordechai, Tzipora, Levi and Elchanan. Eli-Azar, who was affectionately called to me, or Eliko, grew up in Marseilles in southeastern France and was educated in Jewish institutions in his city. He studied until the seventh grade at the Lorodon Yeshiva and from the beginning of his studies stood out as an excellent student, quiet and persistent. From the yeshiva he continued for two years at the Gan Ami School and then moved to the ORT high school where he finished 12th grade with success, and Eli liked to learn how to employ himself, but he also liked to be with friends and always asked for his girlfriend and his closeness. He grew up to be a loved and accepted boy, always helping his spin and everything with a smile and with pure intention.Eli was discovered from a young age as a smart, creative and talented young man. The family says that Eli is blessed by gold, for example, at the age of eight, he received from his father a huge Lego package as a gift for Chanukah, The family members continue to tell how, shortly after his bar mitzvah, Eli asked his father for a shelf from the storeroom and his mother in a burgundy cloth. After meticulous sawing and cutting, he prepared for his grandmother a magnificent gift – He also loved motorcycles, purchased one for himself (to the chagrin of his parents), and as a gold man, he soon learned to dismantle the motorcycle, reassemble it and improve it as much as he wanted . On his expertise in motorcycle repair, the family said that before Eli enlisted in the army, Eli was looking for work in a motorcycle garage, but was refused due to the upcoming recruitment. In 2001, at the age of 19, Eli immigrated to Israel alone without his family. But together with his cousin, he began to study electro-optics at the Lev Institute in Jerusalem, a high school of technology that combined yeshiva studies with yeshiva studies, and was a Zionist and motivated. In his immigration file at the Jewish Agency, he noted his desire to serve as a combat soldier in the IDF. On March 21, 2002, Eli enlisted in the IDF, and at his request he was appointed as a soldier in the mechanized infantry. Eli proved himself a professional and disciplined soldier, was very pleased with his combat service and his commanders expressed satisfaction with his performance. Eli made sure not to tell his parents what the service involved, and in the phone conversations with them he made do with saying “everything is okay” and “the IDF is the IDF” so they will not worry. Upon his enlistment Eli was recognized as a lone soldier and lived in Netanya. He continued to maintain a religious way of life as he was accustomed to from his childhood, was careful about the prayers and all the mitzvot and managed to combine his lifestyle and the nature of the difficult service. Private Eli Ezer Elharar fell during the performance of his duties on the 17th of Tishrei 5763 (September 17, 2002). He was twenty years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem. Survived by his parents, sister and three brothers. Eli’s family immigrated to Israel after his fall, in order to live here according to his spirit and his way. The family donated a Torah scroll in memory of Eli to the “Neve Asher” synagogue in Ramat Beit Shemesh.
