Elhadef, Yitzhak


Son of Leah and Abraham, was born on March 19, 1931 in Jerusalem, where he attended the Margalit elementary school. Was a student who was listening, quiet, disciplined and always willing to help his friends. He excelled in geography and arithmetic. After completing his studies, he began to study craftsmanship with a goldsmith and discovered talent in craftwork. Even when he was 16 he wanted to enlist in the service of the people, but because of his young age, they did not accept him. Not a year went by and the War of Independence broke out. Yitzhak was one of the first recruits, sent to train in Araza and later transferred to Gadna, where his mother said: “Pray for me, Mother, but do not worry about me.” Yitzhak fell on Wednesday, June 11, For fortification work. He was hit by a shell when he was next to the Menorah club. A severely injured man was taken to the hospital and died a few hours later in Sanhedria. On the fifteenth of Cheshvan 5711 (15.11.1951) he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
