Eldan (Andelman), Daniel


Daniel, son of Deborah and Zundel, was born on 13.9.1935 in Lithuania and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1936. He began his studies at the Carmel School in the school of Nahalat Ganim, and continued his studies at the Ohel Shem High School in Ramat Gan. Daniel, whom everyone called Danny, was a kind man, a true friend and a bad friend to his friends. He bought him a wide circle of friends and friends who loved to be with him for his kindness and kindness. There was a joy of life and vitality and he became popular with many because of his sense of humor and his love of man. Danny divided his time between his family, who lived in Rishon Letzion and his work in a commercial company for imports. During his spare time, he was involved in sports and social activities within the framework of the Scouts movement. He was an outstanding athlete and was awarded certificates and medals for his achievements in throwing a bayonet, throwing a discus, running, jumping, basketball and more. As a boy and as an adult, he won the national championship of Maccabi and was also a judge in the light athletics competitions at the sixth Maccabiah. He excelled in his intense love for Israel and its landscapes, and toured the country a great deal, and a few were places he did not visit. He had gold hands and the many works he left behind attested to his great talent and his sense of beauty. Daniel was drafted into the IDF in early August 1953 and volunteered for the IAF, successfully completing the first and most difficult stages of the pilot’s course, but did not finish the course and was transferred to the Nahal Brigade as a rifleman and as a machine gunner in an infantry company. In January 1956, Danny was discharged from regular service and assigned to a reserve unit of the infantry, which was later converted to the Armored Corps, and was called for reserve duty during the Six Day War. His soldiers loved him and his comrades appreciated his professional abilities. He studied at the School of Business Administration near the Institute of Productivity and Production and was one of the graduates of the first class of the school. He also completed marketing and sales management in a course held by the Technion. He did not stop at that and continued to learn computer science and Italian. During the Yom Kippur War, his unit participated in the battles in Sinai, and later took part in crossing the Suez Canal and breaking through the Egyptian lines west of the Canal. On December 15, 1973, Danny was killed and was buried at the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind a wife – Zmira, a son, daughter, brother and sister.
