Elbogen, Akiva-Ya’akov

Son of Sarah and Pinchas, was born in 1922 in the city of Wetz, Hungary, in a traditional home. He graduated from elementary school and went to work. In the Second World War, evil evaded him. For a time he was drafted into the Hungarian Army, in an artillery brigade. He was a member of HaPoel Hamizrachi, organized on the kibbutz, a quiet and devoted friend and his aspiration was to immigrate to Eretz Israel. In 1947 he immigrated to Israel on the ship “Knesset Israel”, was transferred to Cyprus and held there for a year and a half. When he arrived in Israel, he worked as a laborer, first in the orchard, and later in a tanning factory. He lived in Rishon Letzion, the home of his married sister, who preceded him in her immigration. Akiva served in the Givati ​​Brigade and was killed in an accident in the Bilu camp on August 20, 1948 and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot.
