Elad Wallenstein


Son of Edna and Uzi, Elad was born on 30.5.1982 in Ashkelon, a brother of Tomer and Dvir. Elad grew up in an atmosphere of love of man and earth, love of the sea and nature, and traveled with his family throughout the country, asking questions, studying and researching various topics in geography. In physics and philosophy, Elad was a curious young man with amazing knowledge, very ambitious, very modest, loving and peace-loving, and attended the Beit Yehezkel Elementary School in the Afridar neighborhood and the Comprehensive High School in Jerusalem, run by his mother Edna. In addition to his outstanding personal integrity, Elad did not emphasize the fact that he was the son of the principal of the school, and it was clear that he succeeded in doing so. In addition to his love for all the real fields, he loved the fields of geography and history and discovered amazing proficiency in the countries of the world. , The capital cities, the number of residents, the sources of income of the inhabitants of the countries, the economy of the countries and their history, and Elad read books of philosophy from an early age, before finishing his military service. Another book he purchased, but did not have time to read, was a symbolic and terrible book by Professor Asa Kasher ‘meaning of life’ … Elad loved playing handball and basketball. At the age of thirteen, he joined the young team of Hapoel Ashkelon in handball and went to various games against teams around the country. The basketball games were a kind of relaxation for the whole nice group, which included his friends from kindergarten, elementary school and high school. The group used to meet at leisure in the yard of Elad’s house and play basketball. Elad admired the American basketball teams from the NBA, and especially the Utah Jazz team, and received a shirt and a flag from the captain. Elad spent many hours dedicating to computer games on various subjects of sports, strategy and geography. In spite of his many occupations, Elad has also managed to incorporate extensive activity in the youth movement. Elad was an enthusiastic activist in the Nimrod tribe of the Scouts movement in his city, first as a trainee and later as a leader and a team leader. Devoted many days and hours to activities in the movement. In the 10th grade, an amazing friendship began between him and his girlfriend Yael, who became a beloved daughter of the family. Elad and Yael shared many dreams together: studying at the Technion, a joint trip to Scotland under the influence of the movie Braveheart and life of together forever. In September 2000, Elad was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the Navy, where he was chosen to go to an electronic warfare systems technician course on the missile boats, thanks to the high skills and achievements he demonstrated during the drafting of the missile boats. In the two months after his induction, on Monday, November 13, 2000, Elad fell in combat in the Ofra area at 16:00, when he made his way with Additional soldiers At the end of the security operation in the Samaria settlements, the bus they were traveling in was ambushed by terrorists and Elad was killed on the spot.
