Eini, Ezra Zion


Son of Yosef and Pircha. He was born in 1948, in Iraq, and immigrated to Israel in 1951. Zion studied at the Ben Zvi elementary school, in Kiryat Ekron. He liked to work in the nursery, and to care for all kinds of plants. After graduating elementary school, he studied at a vocational high school. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. He was into sports, practiced lifting weights and scoring, and liked playing football. In May 1966, he was drafted into the IDF, and was assigned to the engineering corps, where he was sent to a course of the squadron commander. While he was in compulsory service, he died on the 23rd of Adar, March 13, 1969, between El Arish and Kantara. He had planned to marry his girlfriend after his release from the army. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rechovot.
