Eingel, Immanuel


Emanuel, Ben Bella, and Joseph was born on October 20, 1949, in Rishon Letzion. His parents, Holocaust survivors, arrived in Israel after the establishment of the state after they had been interned in the internment camps in Cyprus. Emanuel was drafted into the IDF in early November 1967. He was trained as a gunner and a tank driver and served in the Armored Corps 7. Emmanuel fell on the 8th of Tishrei 5734 (8.10.1973) in the attempt to penetrate the bridge to Pirdan. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. Survived by his parents and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Your son, Sergeant Emanuel, who served as a tank commander in the armored unit under my command, was an excellent fighter, a courageous fighter and an exemplary commander who led his soldiers in battle. In his body he stopped the Egyptian armor that was preparing to destroy us. He was a favorite of his soldiers and commanders and his fall was a great loss to our unit. “The book was published in a book published by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in memory of its teachers and students who fell in the Yom Kippur War.
