Efrati (Hazenfratz), Shlomo (‘Salo’),
Shlomo ben Abraham and Pnina, was born on the 9th of Av, July 26, 1928 in Romania. He immigrated aloneto Israel in 1947 as part of Aliyah Bet. Shlomo was a kind and friendly, he loved life and everyone around him. When he was 35, he married Rina, and later they had a son – Maor. Shlomo was drafted into the IDF when he immigrated to Israel and joined the War of Independence fighters, served in the Palmach, in the Negev Brigade, as a saffman. After his discharge from the regular service, he was called annually for periods of active reserve service and willingly and conscientiously fulfilled the duties imposed on him. On the 13th of Nissan, April 13, 1976, Shlomo was killed during active duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul and left behind a wife, son, mother, brother and sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “I would like to commend the dedication and loyalty that Shlomo displayed in fulfilling his current position and during his years of service as a soldier in my unit.”
