Efargan, Makhluf (Michael)
Son of Penny and Chaim, was born on July 8, 1963 in Jerusalem. He attended the “Sde Yehoshua” elementary school and completed his studies at the “Independent Education” school in Beit Shemesh. Afterward he continued his studies and studied carpentry. Michael loved the carpentry profession, created tables and shelves, and even participated in a carpentry workshop at the club in his area of residence. Michael was, by nature, sensitive, gentle and polite, and he smiled a lot. For two and a half years, he volunteered in the civil guard operations in Beit Shemesh and enjoyed the work of weapons. Prior to his enlistment, Michael worked as a supervisor for the Jewish National Fund and was known for his work, and Michael was drafted into the IDF in mid-September 1981 and assigned to serve in the Israel Defense Forces. When he completed basic training, he served in the unit as a quartermaster and was soon transferred to the Lachish district as a guard, from which he expected to be sent to a driving course. Everywhere he served he was considered a good soldier, responsible and dedicated to his job.
