Edri, Jacob
Son of Aliza and Uri, was born on April 25, 1962 in Haifa. Until fourth grade, Yaakov studied at an elementary school in Kiryat Ata, and then his family moved to Ashdod. Yaakov continued to study at the Ilanot elementary school until the sixth grade, and completed his elementary studies at the Geulim school. To continue his studies, Yaakov moved to the Mevo’ot Yam maritime school in Mikhmoret. He was a model student and achieved considerable achievements in his studies. In August 1980, Yaakov was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces and stationed in the navy, serving in Sharm el-Sheikh on the Daughter of Galim. During the course of his service, he underwent a number of courses: naval combat course, a course for combat paramedics, a course for deputy commanders of the Dabur, a course for small boat commanders, and his training as a ship medic gave him another dimension of his personality. In his free time, he painted and sketched, and when he had the right conditions, he would sculpt a plaster or carving wood, and he also contributed to the design of a farewell card, which his unit gave to every soldier who was released from it.
