Edri, Abraham
Avraham, son of Rachel and Eliahu, was born in 1953 in the city of Marakesh, Morocco, where he immigrated to Israel in 1973. After living briefly in Moshav Bar Giora in the Jerusalem hills, the family moved to Nahariya and settled there, The Ussishkin elementary school and graduated from the Tzur vocational school – both in Nahariya. Although he did not excel in his studies, he had many positive qualities that earned him the attention of his teachers and friends. He stood out as a natural leader and led the group of students his age. Avraham was kind and considerate of others, and would do his best to help anyone, whether by helping an old wife carrying a heavy basket or organizing a “cleaning operation” in the neighborhood. Avraham was drafted into the IDF in early February 1972. In spite of his poor health and the fact that he acquired a profession in a vocational school, he preferred to volunteer for the Golani Brigade and in his unit was a good soldier and a friend for his comrades and commanders, and all praised him for doing his job perfectly with courage, devotion and loyalty. In the Yom Kippur War, Avraham took part in the battle against the Syrian forces that attacked the Golan Heights On October 22, 1973, Abraham fell in battle and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Kibbutz Lohamei Hagetaot. After he fell, he was promoted to the rank of corporal, and his friend Yitzhak Azulai, who fell with him, was commemorated in a memory booklet In light of the Gideon Battalion.
