Son of Avraham and Aneta. Born in the city of Baku, Romania, in 1962, his family immigrated to Israel, studied at the Arlozorov Elementary School in Ashkelon, continued his studies at ORT vocational school in Ashkelon and completed his professional studies at ORT, In Netanya, during the summer vacation he always tended to engage in public affairs, was involved in sports, and the documents he left behind indicate his participation in all sorts of sports activities, including participation in the Negev Walk of Ashqelon. In the year that the Six-Day War broke out he studied at ORT in Ashkelon and then volunteered for the special national service and dealt with evacuating the wounded. After completing four years of study at ORT Netanya, he received a certificate of completion that gives him a professional classification according to the official regulations and the right to be accepted to the Technion. At the beginning of August 1969 he was drafted into the IDF, and on April 15, 1970, he fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Ashkelon. In a letter of condolence to his parents, the unit’s commander wrote: “I knew him from his first day in the unit, as a young man who knew what was ahead of him … He knew the meaning of his volunteer service to us and was prepared for it.” His achievements in training increased every day and at the end of his training he was sent to one of the operational companies, – He was a fighter with initiative, responsibility and energy, and Shadi was unusually talented and his resourcefulness and extraordinary courage only added another layer and distinguished his position as a fighter and commander in the future.
