Dubo, Shmuel


He was born in Hungary and was a member of the Habonim youth movement. During the Second World War and its horrors, he suffered many hardships. In 1946 he immigrated to Israel on a Haganah ship. He first settled in Kfar Giladi and worked in the carpentry shop. Shmuel was one of the members of the group who had settled in Beit HaEmek, between Nahariya and Acre. He joined the Hagana and did his first training. In February 1948 he was drafted into the Palmach and transferred to the Palmach. Shmuel was among those who were called upon to break through to Jerusalem. He participated in the “Nachshon” operation and in the “Maccabi” operation, entered a room with his friends in the Old City and conquered Katamon with them. On Tuesday, June 10, 1948, nine hours before the first truce, when he was in Kiryat Anavim, a direct hit was hit by a mortar shell, and Shmuel was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
