Druyan, Raziel


Raziel (Razi), son of Malka and Yigal, was born on the 4th of Kislev 5708 (November 4, 1947) in Kfar Saba. He studied at the Brenner elementary school and later graduated from the Katznelson High School in Kfar Saba. Razi was an alert child with a developed sense of humor. During his studies, he participated in plays and usually filled the main roles. He was a good-hearted boy, honest, decent, and a loyal friend. He liked sports activities, a lot of traveling and sailing. He devoted his free time to reading professional literature on sailing in boats and eventually acquired an engine. At school, he was a good student and his teachers liked him for his pleasant and comfortable temperament. He was naturally optimistic, cheerful, and happy. From childhood, he was devoted to his parents and cared for his family. Razi was drafted into the IDF in mid-February 1966 and assigned to the Israel Air Force, and after completing basic training, he completed an interception training course and was sent to a control course. In the Six Day War, he fought in the Sinai region and was awarded the War of Independence, and after completing his mandatory service, he volunteered to serve for one year in the army. , Worked as a radio engineer and worked for the Israel Broadcasting Authority He was appointed as an example of his devotion to work, and from time to time he was called for periods of reserve duty and served as an air force interception controller. In the Yom Kippur War he joined his unit and fought in the Sinai region. On October 12, On the 12th of Tishrei 5740 (October 12, 1973), in the Umm Mikveh area, the helicopter in which he was flying while performing his duty was hit and he was killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the Kfar Saba cemetery. He was survived by his parents, a brother who was a regular officer in the air force and a sister who also served in the air force.

In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “The late Razi was one of the elite soldiers of the unit and has been faithful to it since its inception. Was a cheerful social man, loved and accepted by everyone. His downfall hit all the people in the unit. Great is the pain and comfort there is. Of blessed memory!”
