Drori, Eyal


Son of Dov and Tzvia. He was born on May 5, 1951, in Afula. When he was 11 months old, his mother fell ill and Eyal was transferred to Kibbutz Lohamei Hagetaot, to the home of relatives, Rachel and Fejka Sawirski. In their home on the kibbutz he found a warm spot and an understanding Lev. His parents and sister lived in Motza Elite and Eyal, who was very attached to them, visited them a lot. Eyal was a delicate and sensitive child; He loved the beauty of nature, literature, music, theater and good movies. During his studies he composed songs and songs and wrote a diary. His hobby was collecting stamps. He belonged to the kibbutz youth brigade and was a member of the “Oren” group of the school at Kibbutz Lohamei Hagetaot. In the group, among his friends, he took his unique path. At the school, he was active in the cultural committee of his peers, and in recent years even served as its coordinator. Eyal loved life and wanted to exhaust them as much as he could. He made the short course of his life out of a smile of happiness. It was a rich world, bursting like a spring. He used to greet everyone who happened to be on his way. He understood every man in his grief, but never demanded it from others. After graduating from high school, he worked in the avocado industry, and was always willing to help and guide anyone who asked. Eyal was drafted into the IDF at the end of October 1969 and was assigned to the Armored Corps on April 10, 1970. Only five and a half months later, Eyal fell on the banks of the Suez Canal. He was laid to rest in the cemetery of Kibbutz Lohamei Hagetaot. On the thirtieth day of the fall, the diary of Kibbutz Dafim was dedicated to his memory; On the first anniversary of his fall, a book was published in his memory called Eyal.
