Dror Dov

Dov (Dovi), son of Ahuva and Alexander, was born on September 10, 1944, in Hadera, where he completed his elementary studies at the “Arlozorov” school. He passed the entrance exams for the boarding school with honors. That is how his studies began at the boarding school. His years in the boarding school toughened his spirit and solidified his character; The young cadets were forced to cope with difficult efforts and challenges, but Dovi managed to overcome all of this with his strong will and with the knowledge of what he had before him, and he liked to write poems, sketches, and pheplits, They were used at the famous parties of the military boarding school, 1962, he volunteered for the paratroopers; Later, as is customary for a graduate of the boarding school, he was sent immediately to a series of courses, in order to prepare him to fulfill his mission as best as he could. In 1964 he joined the regular army and spent nine whole years there. During his service in the IDF, he completed a course for infantry officers, a course for commanders of infantry battalions, a parachuting course, and a graduate of the Command and Staff School, and finished them all with excellent grades. Professional, responsible and devoted to his position, has considerable experience, shows great initiative, diligent and efficient, very good perception and resourcefulness. “During his years of service he served as company commander, operations officer, deputy battalion commander and brigade officer in the Golani Brigade. During all that, he took a short visit abroad . During the Six-Day War he served in the eastern front and the northern front, and also went through the War of Attrition. During his time at the Command and Down School, he studied history and Orientalism at the Tel Aviv University, where he won excellent grades between 90 and 100. In 1970 he married his girlfriend, Sara, and the two began to devote themselves to establishing their home. In August 1973 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. For his soldiers he was like a father, like a guardian. Calm and quiet, his voice sympathetic and his speech calm, even in battle. Behind him everyone was sure and confident.lots wondered how a person who sleeps only 3-4 hours a day, He rises before everyone refreshed and works very hard. Usually he hardly ate. They made him a thin slice, a small sandwich, and he did not want it. He used to say, “What is food, eating to sustain the body?” The gastronomic pleasures did not appeal to him. Some say he was preoccupied with his spiritual food – army life. He used to say, “Infantry is a profession, and you have to be careful and do it at the best.” In the group exercises, the new students were surprised when they suddenly saw the battalion commander crawl along with them, Once he decided to keep a close watch on the soldiers’ alertness, To do so he marched with everyone in the field, stoned them with training, and attacked soldiers from behind and fought with them to examine their reaction. The soldiers are not accustomed to such a phenomenon, and in the course of training, the battalion commander suddenly appears next to them and acts like them, and as a man, he excelled in the Yom Kippur War and served as a battalion commander in the Golani Brigade on the Golan Heights. On the way to the summit, in an attempt to rescue the besieged Hermon outpost, Dovi was injured and fell, and he was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery.
