Dresler, Jacob


Son of Esther and Ze’ev, was born in 1927 in Lodz, Poland, and received a popular education. During the Second World War, years of suffering in the Lodz Ghetto and the death camps in Germany passed. Jacob was gifted with organizational talent and he stood in the days of distress and dread. After his liberation he immigrated to Israel with a group of friends via Italy on the last legal ship in 1945. He was a member of a youth company in Beit Zera. The transition from a life of degeneration and degradation to a life of freedom and creativity was difficult for him, but Yankele, as they called him, was put to the test. He was found to be a hard worker, a good organizer and a loyal friend, although he did not excel in his studies. In the wake of the order, the entire company enlisted in the ranks of the Palmach, the Yiftah Brigade, and with it Yankele, who took part in the liberation of the Galilee and the battles around Latrun On July 12, 1948, Haditha. He was buried in son of Shemen. On the 24th of Tevet 5711 (2.1.1951) he was laid to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
