Dotan, Ezra (Baban)


Son of Rosalie-Barbara and Gershon Zandman. He was born on September 25, 1937, in the port city of Danzig, between Poland and Germany, and in 1940, shortly after the outbreak of World War II, he boarded the ship with his parents on board an illegal immigrant ship. Ezra began to study in an elementary school in Mauritius, and in 1945 immigrated with his family to Israel for the second time. The family settled in Nahariya, where he continued his studies at the Weizmann elementary school and the local high school. Ezra was one of the founders and founders of the Nahariya Aviation Club and completed his studies at the Air Force Technical School in Haifa. He played tennis, was swimming, riding a bicycle, detailing a piano and playing a harmonica, but his great love was the airport he devoted his life to. Ezra was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-May 1955 and volunteered to serve in the Israel Air Force (IAF) in 1957. He was a successful fighter pilot and participated in all of Israel’s wars, An Air Force Adviser, a Flight Instructor, a Squadron Commander, a Base Commander and an Air Force Commander in the Command and Staff School, all of which he fulfilled with great success and was sent for professional tours and procurement purposes to France, Britain, and the United States.
