Amichai, son of Sarah and Jacob, was born on the 23rd of Nisan 5713 (18.3.1952) in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Beit Hakerem Elementary School in Jerusalem and later completed his studies at the military boarding school of the Herzliya Gymnasium in Tel Aviv. He was a great student and loved to study. In preparation for the entrance exams to the military boarding school he had to improve his physical fitness, and for that he began to run several kilometers every morning. And indeed, at the beginning of his studies, he passed all the tests, as required. Physical training at the military boarding school was difficult, but Ami never complained about his difficulties. There was always a smile on his lips and he would repeat that “there are no problems”.Amichai was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of November 1970 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he completed professional training, including a tank artillery course and a course for armored corps officers, and finished all of these courses with excellent grades. , He kept in his pockets parts of tanks and even bought colored paint to decorate his “tank.” The armor was a way of life and a goal, and he was a devoted commander, caring for his soldiers and a favorite officer of his commanders and subordinates. When the yom kipur war broke out Amichai was incharg of a tank company in the Golan Heights, whose unit participated in the braking battles On October 7, 1973, he set out to rescue two tank crews who had remained in the area occupied by the enemy and, as he moved forward ,he noticed Syrian tanks passing by him, He continued with his mission, and with great care and resourcefulness rescued the crews and dragged the tanks toward our forces, while his tank was hit, but he escaped and continued to fight from another tank, and was later killed by a direct hit at the Hermon .he was brought to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. After his fall, Amichai was promoted to the rank of captain and awarded the medal of honor.
