Donio, Tzachi


The eldest son of Hava and David. Born on 20 January 1980 in Holon, a brother to Maya and Merav, at the age of two he moved to Rishon LeZion with his family, where he grew up until the age of 16. Tzachi studied in Rishon LeZion at the Ein Hakore elementary school, “Dorot” and high school “Gymnasia Reali” participated in judo and soccer circles, and studied in a computer department At the end of 10th grade, Tzahi moved with his family to Rehovot and completed his high school, ruler. In the 10th grade, as part of his personal commitment program, he treated a limited child. Tzahi loved animals and computer games. As a third grader, he wrote short stories about animals and read them to the class in social classes. He loved to read – mostly science fiction and adventure books. In the field of sports, he played football, worked in lifting weights and practiced punching. Tzachi wanted to serve in the army in a combat unit and prepared himself for it. In the year before his recruitment, he had engaged himself in intensive training at the gym and persisted at least twice a week. When it became clear that he would not be able to serve as a combat soldier, he was bitterly disappointed and asked to postpone his recruitment to improve the matriculation grades. However, his request was not answered and his recruitment was advanced. Tzahi was drafted into the IDF on July 13, 1998. After a month of general work, he was sent to basic training at the base of the recruits, and two weeks later, on the 27th of Elul 5758 (August 27, 1998) Tzachi ended his life following a mental crisis. Did not leave a letter explaining his motives. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rehovot. Survived by parents and two sisters. His 12-year-old sister Merav eulogized her brother: “Tzachi was a strong boy in his soul and outside, barely seeing him cry or even a single tear. Tzachi had a sense of humor, nice, young and strong. I wish we all were as strong as Tzachi, who died too young to die, like a fallen candle. “
